The RAISE-FS (Resilient Agriculture for Inclusive and Sustainable Ethiopian Food Systems) project field day in Boloso Bombe, Wolaita Zone, showcased game changing agricultural technologies to over 300 farmers. The event featured orange fleshed sweet potato – rich in Vitamin A to address malnutrition; faba beans – providing protein and improving soil fertility; and moringa – a nutrient dense plant with proven health benefits. The field day also included training on improved cultivation techniques, post harvest handling, and market linkages. SEARI’s representative Dr. Alemayehu Balcha, along with Areka Center Director Dr. Genene Gezahegn, RAISE FS Project Lead Dr. Asfaw Kifle, and other stakeholders, reiterated their commitment to scaling these technologies across the region. The event provided farmers with firsthand experience of innovations that can boost productivity, improve nutrition, and build climate resilience.
