SEARI management, led by Director General Dr. Abiyot Mebrate, held a formal audit engagement meeting with the South Ethiopia Region Audit Office in December 2025. The meeting marked the official commencement of the 2017 budget year audit, with auditors from the regional audit office attending a comprehensive entrance conference at the institute’s headquarters. During the session, SEARI management presented the institute’s financial records, operational procedures, and internal control mechanisms, providing full transparency and cooperation to facilitate a thorough and efficient audit process. The auditors were given access to all necessary documentation and assured of the institute’s commitment to accountability and good governance.

The engagement meeting served as an essential platform for establishing a collaborative working relationship between SEARI and the audit office, ensuring that the audit process would be conducted smoothly and effectively. Dr. Abiyot Mebrate emphasized the institute’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of financial management, reaffirming that SEARI views the audit not merely as a compliance exercise but as an opportunity for continuous improvement. The audit process is expected to cover all aspects of SEARI’s operations, including financial management, procurement, project implementation, and institutional governance.
