SEARI conducted its first-half performance review meeting at Arba Minch Agricultural Research Center in January 2026, bringing together senior management, researchers, and administrative staff to assess progress on the institute’s 2025/26 work plan. The meeting provided a comprehensive evaluation of achievements across research, technology transfer, and seed multiplication programs, highlighting notable successes in crop improvement, livestock breeding, and natural resource management. Key presentations focused on the delivery of improved technologies to farmers, the expansion of community-based seed multiplication, and the strengthening of partnerships with development organizations and government agencies.

The review also identified challenges and opportunities for the second half of the year, with management setting clear priorities for scaling successful interventions and addressing emerging gaps. Participants discussed strategies to enhance research quality, improve technology adoption rates, and strengthen institutional capacity for sustainable agricultural transformation. The meeting underscored SEARI’s commitment to delivering impactful research that directly benefits farming communities across South Ethiopia. Senior leadership commended staff for their dedication and reaffirmed the institute’s vision to become a center of excellence in agricultural research and innovation.
